- Dehumidifier – High levels of humidity are damaging to wood. Humidity makes your furniture pieces even more inviting to termites, rats, and other pests. High humidity can cause wood to mold or rot. The best way to prevent humidity damage is to invest in a dehumidifier.
- Placement- Be mindful of where you decide to place your furniture. You never want to place your wood furniture in the direct sunlight. Sunlight coming through a window is much hotter that the air temperature outside and can cause the wood to dry out, fade, or discolor.
- Clean – It is important to clean your furniture regularly. The best way to clean your furniture is with a damp cloth that won’t scratch your furniture. Try to avoid cleaners like Pledge that can leave your furniture oily and harder to clean in the long run.
- Wax – We recommend using wax and not oil on your wood furniture. Oil products can lead to unwanted build-up on your furniture that leads to your finish wearing down. A wax product can be used once a year to help protect your furniture.
